Thank You Fabulous Readers for Stepping (Safely) Out into the World Again!

I was so thrilled to be included as one of the authors at the Bucks County Book Festival in late September. The weather was gorgeous, and not only was the event an opportunity to meet and greet readers in the flesh again, but I also had a chance to chat with my pal Christina Baker Kline, the extraordinary author of The Exiles and Orphan Train. PLUS, I got to wear a skirt for the first time in ages. (My legs unfortunately were the same color as the underbelly of a fish, but it felt wonderful not to wear tights that day.)

Is Your Book Club Planning to Read My Latest Thriller, THE FIANCÉE?

If so, I’d be honored to join in via Zoom. I had such a fun time recently with Michelle and the entire Bella Vida Styles Book Club and would love to do it again. Just email me at Kate@katewhite.com and we can set something up for the fall or winter.

THE FIANCEE

A Fabulous Book Bargain for Thriller Lovers!

Thanks to an exclusive promotion by Amazon, the Kindle edition of my 2019 thriller, HAVE YOU SEEN ME?, is currently free, yes FREE, if you have an Amazon Prime account.

HAVE YOU SEEN ME? was an Amazon editors’ pick in the thriller category, a really special honor, and A.J. Finn, the author of The Woman in the Window, called it a “dagger sharp, whip-smart thriller.”

WHAT I’M READING/ WATCHING

56 Days
By Catherine Ryan Howard

I didn’t gravitate to this thriller right away because the pandemic plays a big role it in it, and I want to use my down time to escape thoughts of COVID, but I kept hearing great things about this book so I finally relented. And I’m soo glad I did. This is a gripping, page-turning debut by Irish author Howard. As a reader you know right from the early chapters that things probably aren’t what they seem to be, but you’re not at all sure how you’re being misled, and getting to the truth couldn’t be more exhilarating.

The Chestnut Man
Netflix

Okay, this chilling new Nordic Noir series scared my pants off, but I couldn’t stop watching. It’s super suspenseful and filled with lots of questions, puzzles, and twists. Added bonus: the main character is a feisty female detective who seems unafraid of anything (though does every woman cop on TV have to have two-inch roots in her hair?).

WHAT I’M COOKING/CONCOCTING

Because of the mild fall in the northeast, my farmer’s market had some gorgeous tomatoes even in early October (yours too?), and I snatched them up to make everything from tomatoes Provencal to spaghetti with fresh tomato sauce to homemade salsa. Last week I copied a very simple dish I had enjoyed this summer at the remarkable Canal House Station restaurant in Milford, NJ: tomatoes with a mustard vinaigrette, topped with creamy blue cheese and lots of snipped chives. The chives not only added to the taste, but they made the dish even more visually appealing.

Until next month,
