THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
I won’t deny it—I love being an author so much that I’d probably keep writing books even if only a handful of people read them each year. But it’s incredibly gratifying when a book I’ve loved working on truly connects with readers—and that’s exactly what’s happened with my newest novel, I CAME BACK FOR YOU.
I couldn’t be happier with how this book turned out, and as I write this, it’s still the #1 new release in psychological thrillers on Amazon Kindle, with more than nine thousand reviews.
So thank you to everyone who bought the book, stayed up far too late finishing it, posted a review on Amazon or elsewhere, or shared their thoughts with me on Facebook or Instagram. I’m deeply grateful for your support.
P.S. I just got up the nerve to listen to the audio version and it’s spectacular!!

Great book bargain news: The Kindle edition of ICBFY is available for free if you’re a Kindle unlimited member and for only $4.99 otherwise. A nice steal.

ASK ME ANYTHING
It seems like you publish something new every year. Is it hard to have only a year to complete an entire book?
—Alexa C.
It’s not only hard—it’s actually impossible for me. I need a full year to write a book, plus about three months beforehand to let the idea take shape. I always begin with simply a germ of an idea and then work to grow it into a fully realized story with characters who hopefully feel real.
So during the final months of finishing one book, I carve out a little time each day—usually over a cup of tea—to begin developing the next one. By then, I’ve bought a new spiral notebook (it you haven’t yet rediscovered the joy of making notes in a spiral notebook, I highly recommend!), and I start filling it with thoughts and questions about the germ, constantly asking myself, What if…?
That way, once I’ve finished one book, I’m ready to dive straight into the next.

WHAT I’M WATCHING
SECRETS WE KEEP (NETFLIX)
If you love Nordic noir thrillers as much as I do, I think you’ll be mesmerized by Secrets We Keep on Netflix (not to be confused with my 2017 suspense novel, The Secrets You Keep). This Danish series, set in the suburbs of Copenhagen, is beautifully shot, thought-provoking, and wonderfully acted—and it’s packed with twists. There are six episodes in all, and each one pulls you deeper in.
WHAT I’M COOKING
Potatoes are a big part of the Uruguayan diet, so when I’m there each winter, I find myself eating far more of them than usual—especially papas fritas. While they sometimes resemble classic French fries, a friend here makes them a little differently, and I absolutely love her version.
She thinly slices red potatoes, soaks them in cold water for five minutes, then dries them well. After that, she tosses them lightly in olive oil, spreads them on a sheet pan, and bakes them at 350°F until they’re golden, with crisp, slightly browned edges.
They taste heavenly—but somehow feel just a bit less indulgent than traditional fries.
All the best and until next time,
